But the only thing missing in the Kaidi Kitchen are aluminium vessels that are found in real prisons as in this prison you will be treated royally.

The Kaidi Kitchen was opened in December 2012 by a group of friends named Rohit Ojha, Saurav Aggarwal and Ankit Madhogaria. They thought of opening a fine dine restaurant consisting only of vegetarian food as it is not so easily available in the city area and, after several market research, they finally opened a multi-cuisine  restaurant in Chennai, Mylapore.

Why the restaurant has Kaidi theme?

When the owners of the restaurant were looking for places, they did not think about any kind of theme. It is only the place that made them think about this theme. They also did a trial before launching, where customers were given two options. The first option is to sit at the jail and have food and the second is to observe the people cooking inside the jail, from out. And finally, by evaluating the response of the customers, the entire theme has been set up.

The food served in Kaidi Kitchen is extremely luscious. They serve big portions at affordable prices. This multi-cuisine restaurant has an extensive menu with food from various parts of the world. Kaidi Kitchen offers variety in Italian, Thai, Mexican, Mongolian and North Indian foods at their restaurant.

The chefs in this restaurant prepare meals with utmost concern and care. They try to meet each customer’s fancies of diverse cuisines and gastronomical whims. Few of the must-try dishes are Mongolian rice soup, Amritsari kulcha, Dhall dhabbewali ( A combination of three pulses), Chur chur naan, Lahori paneer, Thai Wok burnt satay rice and chilli paneer gravy. In the dessert, you can opt for baked Rasogolla, sizzling Brownie ice cream and don’t forget to try kaidiyo ki pasand ka laddu.

Ambience of the Restaurant

Apart from arresting the heart of Chennai food lovers, Kaidi Kitchen provides an excellent ambience. The decor and design of the restaurant are excellently planned. The facade of the restaurant appears similar to the gate of the prison. It is fully air-conditioned with around 8000 sq feet. This opulent prison has eight prison cells and you can be seated in any one of the cells of your choice. The decor consists of revolving lights, toy guns displayed on the wall, hand cuff suspended on top of the cells. The entire design gives a royal touch although the theme is of prison.

The restaurant is open from Monday to Sunday from 12 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. and from 7 P.M. to 10:45 P.M. It is good for all age groups, where a group of friends and families can come and savour the various cuisines. It is an ideal place for people who are vegetarians as well as for those who like to have a non-vegetarian appetite. Moreover, Kaidi Kitchen provides with Banquet Hall in the basement with the capacity of around 200 people as well as outdoor catering services.

People usually visit this place during the weekends, mostly Saturday nights. Obviously, it is difficult to reserve a prison cell during weekends. The restaurant follows come first and get arrested policy. When the prison cells open in the evening around 7 P.M., it is usually packed. It is always a good idea to reach early or even get pre-booking done to avoid waiting at the outlet.
